Zebrawood and Baltic birch

My vessels are not turned on a lathe, as I prefer asymmetrical forms achieved by carving directly in wood. I use carving, grinding and sanding tools to shape wood. The exotic plant shapes that I have seen in tropical rain forests inspired the form of this sculptural vessel. The body is formed from thin layers of baltic birch. The rim and bottom are carved from the same piece of solid zebrawood.
